Beyond Booking: How Boundless Life Supports Your Every Step

August 5, 2024

Kat Ridgway-Taylor

It wouldn’t be unreasonable to assume that the Boundless Life experience begins when our families land (or dock) in one of our growing number of locations. But the journey actually begins much earlier. I invite you to take my hand and join me on a journey to becoming part of the Boundless Life community - and how we strive to make this process as seamless and beneficial as possible for all.

1. Admissions & Booking

2️. Onboarding

3️. On Location: Your Boundless Life and beyond!

🚂 First stop: Your Pre-Booking Call with one of our Family Representatives

OK, you’re interested in joining Boundless Life. You’ve reviewed the website and are day-dreaming about yoga by the sea in Syros, your children taking educational field trips through the natural wonders of Kotor, or are longing to discover the cultural vibrancy of Bali. What next?

Your Pre-Booking Call!

This session will be with one of our Family Reps who will work with you to fully understand your aspirations, goals and requirements and help guide you towards the best cohort experience for you and your family. They can also answer any questions you might still have and will explain the application process.

They are super-qualified to do all of this. Why?? Because they have all been (and continue to be in many cases) Boundless Life customers before joining the Crew. Every. Single. One!

🚂 Submit your Boundless Application Form

This ‘admissions’ stage is your passport to join the Boundless Life community. This is an important step in the process as it helps us get to know you and your family much better. From an education standpoint, it allows our Education Crew to become familiar with your children and their specific learning needs and preferences.

Why is there an admissions process?

Our admissions process is used to ensure Boundless Education is the right fit for you and your child(ren). Our community is successful because of the universally positive contribution all its members make - students, educators and parents alike.

We welcome students of all backgrounds and strive for diversity. Most importantly, we look for students and families with open hearts, open minds, and a genuine motivation to learn from the world.

We want all our families to share similar educational values to our own, so it is important that the admissions process is used, in part, to ensure we are “all on the same page” as we depart on this learning journey together.

🚂 All aboard for Onboarding

If your application is accepted, and you have submitted your Booking Form and deposit for your chosen cohort, your family’s journey towards your arrival truly begins with our comprehensive Onboarding process led by our Community Crew:

Children’s 360° Profile session and profile

This is our opportunity to get to know each of the children enrolling and assess their unique learning needs and style. This only needs to be completed once per child enrolling.

The session is held between one of our Boundless Education Admissions Specialists and each new family. At least one parent and the child(ren) enrolling are required to attend.

The information from this interview is shared only with each child's educators and will best prepare them to meet each child where they are currently at educationally - and then continue their educational journey in an way that is optimised for them,

“Questions include information about each child’s previous education, stage of learning, personality, social emotional needs, possible support needed, previous diagnoses, and/or learning challenges. It will also help determine each child’s unique learning style. Although this informal session is only half an- hour-long, it really gives us the opportunity to begin building a framework of knowledge that will help us provide the best possible learning experience for each child”.

Salecia, Boundless Life Admissions Specialist.

The session provides the foundation of each child's ‘360° Profile’ - a unique bank of information that will grow with each child and can travel from destination to destination during their Boundless Education journey.

This is a two-way session that also gives families an opportunity to gain more insight into Boundless Education and ask any questions they may have.

Onboarding email series and Boundless Life ‘Slack’ community

We will send each family a series of useful onboarding emails in the run-up to their arrival on-location. These cover all the major topics - such as highlights of your chosen location and pre-arrival arrangements.

Our Boundless Life community is hosted on Slack and is a great place for families to begin getting to know their fellow cohort members, and get all the latest news - both specific to their cohort and and the wider Boundless Life community.

"We understand that starting a new adventure can be daunting. Our onboarding email series and Slack community are designed to ease your transition. The emails will answer most of your questions, and the Slack community provides a welcoming space to connect with your cohort and access valuable and timely resources."

Elodie Fechaud, Boundless Life Co-Founder

Pre-Arrival Webinar

One of the final and most important stages of our Onboarding process is our ‘Pre-Arrival Webinars’. These online video calls allow our families to begin putting faces to names! They are introduced to each other but also to the Local Crew who will be looking after them after they arrive. It’s also a great opportunity to ask any last minute questions.

LAUNCHING SOON! Our ‘Boundless Transitions: Onboarding (and Offboarding) Webinars’

It’s perfectly natural for families to focus on the practical and logistical aspects of their Boundless Life adventure and sometimes neglect to consider the possible emotional impact of such a big life change - particularly for those staying three months or more. Uprooting you and your family’s life is no small undertaking and the change can take time to process effectively.

In acknowledgement of these very normal feelings when navigating change, we will soon be launching our ‘Boundless Transitions: Onboarding and Offboarding Webinars’. One session will be held before you arrive and one as you prepare to leave your cohort.

Our Boundless Education Quality Assurance Specialist, Ilona, is an expert at helping adults and children alike tackle big life changes - including transitions to spending extended periods abroad and, ultimately, returning to their home countries. She helps people do this in a conscious, mindful and positive way.

We believe that an upfront investment in exploring the emotional impact of the changes you will likely experience is rewarded by a much smoother Boundless Life experience. You will arrive (and leave) empowered to acknowledge and better understand the complex feelings big changes - like living in another  country - can evoke.

"It's okay to feel a range of emotions during a big life transition. In the 'Boundless Transitions' webinars, we'll explore tools and strategies to navigate these feelings, fostering a sense of well-being and resilience for both adults and children throughout their Boundless Life journey."

Ilona Taimela, Boundless Education Quality Assurance Specialist

🚂 On location

Our local Crew is made up of a dedicated team of experienced Hospitality/Operations and Education professionals. They are available throughout your stay to help ensure you and your family have the best possible experience. In addition to supporting our families’ day-to-day, our Crew have curated some ‘milestone’ events that will help you navigate the different stages of your journey with us - from ‘total newbies’ to ‘Boundless Life bosses’.

Welcome Ceremony

Our Welcome Ceremony may be the first opportunity for all of our families to come together in person and meet the Local Crew. It’s a relaxed introduction to each other, but also to the Boundless way of living and learning.

Boundless Connections

These sessions feature at the beginning and end of each cohort and are like a prologue and epilogue in your Boundless Life story. Coffee and treats are the perfect accompaniment to our first session - as our parents get to share a little bit of their stories so far, their personal reasons for seeking out a life of immersive travel and alternative learning with their children, and the goals for their stay.

Our concluding session provides parents with a chance to reflect back upon their time with Boundless. Were their personal goals achieved? What were the unexpected highlights and were there any challenges to overcome?

“Our Boundless Connections sessions are often unexpectedly emotive and revelatory. In the hustle and bustle of everyday life - plus the planning in the run up to their Boundless Life stay - it’s easy for families to forget to breathe and truly reflect upon their decision to live, learn, work and play in a totally different country. It’s a bold and brave step! Our Connections events provide a moment of stillness to acknowledge this and truly appreciate the opportunity that awaits you and, latterly, to look back upon the experience and all that it has offered to you personally.”

Stefanie Petrie, Global Operations Manager

Destination Discovery sessions

As the name suggests, these sessions help our families become more familiar with the culture, customs and features of their temporary home. The objective is to help you quickly feel more at ease in your surroundings - and ready to start living like a local and enjoying the immersive experiences on offer throughout your stay.

Farewell Celebrations

The ultimate finale of any cohort! We begin with our Learning Celebration at the Education Centre. Your children take the lead here and are very much the stars of the show as they proudly demonstrate and display the results of all their efforts throughout the cohort.

As the evening arrives, the children get together for a fun Movie Night hosted by the Education Crew whilst the parents escape for a final fun night out.

Our Farewell events are a celebration of your time with Boundless Life and a moment to reflect back upon the experience you have shared with fellow families and our Crew - many of whom will have become firm friends.

"Both our Welcome Ceremony and Farewell Celebration foster a profound sense of universality and connection. These rituals emphasize that transitions are an integral part of our lives, marking significant milestones and changes. At Boundless Life we acknowledge the importance of each phase in our journey, understanding that these evolutions will continue to shape our experiences and personal growth throughout our learning journeys."

Jaclyn Pata Smith, Student Support Coordinator/Consultant
