A podcast with Mauro Repacci (CEO and Founder of Boundless Life) on how to travel and live abroad as a family

For generations, families have followed a predictable pattern: build a career, settle down, enroll the kids in school, and squeeze travel into a few short weeks a year. But what if that model no longer serves the world we live in today? What if families could explore the globe now – without compromising their children’s education or their own careers?

That question sits at the heart of Boundless Life, co-founded by Mauro Repacci, a global citizen with roots in Brazil, Canada, Italy, Spain and beyond. His mission is simple yet revolutionary: empower families to live, learn, and travel differently.

In a recent podcast, Mauro shared the story behind Boundless Life and the philosophy driving this fast-growing movement.

Breaking Free from the Traditional Family Timeline

Mauro describes life as divided into three travel phases:

  1. Young adulthood – full of freedom, limited by money.
  2. Family years – full of financial stability, limited by school calendars.
  3. Retirement – full of time, limited by health.

Most families live decades in that middle phase, tied to rigid schedules and forced to travel only during the busiest, most expensive weeks of the year. Mauro felt this deeply while living in Canada – six months of winter, limited holidays, and a strong desire to show his children the world.

“We only have 18 summers with our kids,” he reminds us.
By age 18, we’ve already spent 80% of our lifetime hours with them.

That sense of urgency sparked change.

The Moment That Changed Everything

Like many families during the pandemic, Mauro and his wife questioned whether traditional education was preparing their kids for the future. Not only had little changed in 30 years, but the system itself felt misaligned with a world that increasingly values creativity, empathy, adaptability, and global awareness.

They decided to take a sabbatical – four countries, one tutor, and a full year of exploration.

It lasted only a few days.

Homeschooling wasn’t for them, and that realization became the seed of something much bigger. When Mauro shared the idea with entrepreneur friends, their response was unanimous: “Let’s do this together.”

The concept evolved into Boundless Life – a community-driven model that combines flexible education, meaningful travel experiences, turnkey homes, and a built-in community. Within months, the first families arrived in Sintra, Portugal.

A New Approach to Childhood Education

Boundless Life’s education model blends the best of several philosophies:

1. Personalized Learning

No more one-size-fits-all textbooks.
Kids learn at their own level with daily, AI-powered adaptations that respond to the mistakes they made the day before. Progress becomes individualized and intentional.

2. Place-Based Learning

Location shapes learning.
In Portugal, children surf, learn local songs, explore gastronomy, and dive into cultural traditions. In other locations, they might study geology, forestry, craftsmanship, or local languages.

3. Multi-Age Classrooms

Inspired by Montessori principles, classrooms mix age groups within a three-year range.
Older kids learn leadership and responsibility; younger kids learn by observing and emulating.

4. Boundless Projects

Much like Google’s 20% time, children choose a passion project to develop over several months. This addition fuels independence, creativity, confidence, and entrepreneurial thinking.

Community: The Missing Ingredient in Family Travel

Long-term travel can be isolating – something Mauro experienced firsthand. Boundless Life solves this through intentionally designed communities where:

  • Families live within walking distance of the education center
  • Parents work and connect at the Boundless Hub
  • Weekly activities, yoga, workshops, and circles build meaningful relationships
  • Parents teach “Endeavor Time” lessons based on their real-world skills

Boundless Life recreates the best parts of village living – shared knowledge, mentorship, collective learning – reimagined for the modern world.

Preparing Kids for a Future AI Can’t Replace

Mauro sees the world shifting rapidly.

Where companies once hired multiple analysts, AI now does much of the number crunching.
So what becomes valuable?

  • Empathy
  • Creativity
  • Curiosity
  • Collaboration
  • Human connection
  • Cultural adaptability

And nothing fosters these qualities faster than travel, exposure, and real-world learning.

Designing a Life You Don’t Need a Vacation From

Boundless Life isn’t a school.
It’s not a travel agency.
It’s not a relocation service.

It’s a complete ecosystem designed to give families something priceless:
time together, meaningful experiences, a global worldview, and a lifestyle that matches modern values.

For families craving something more than the traditional script, Mauro’s vision feels less like a dream and more like the future of family life.
